Olympic Junior High was built in 1954 as a junior high school servicing local school children in grades seven through nine. The Olympic mascot was a Cougar. It was the third Junior High School in the Highline School District. The three buildings provided 87,934 square feet of school on a 16.1 acre parcel of land. The school features a large track and field facility and baseball diamonds. In 1979 the junior high school was converted into an elementary school for students in grades four through six when Maywood, North Hill, and Manhattan schools closed. The sister school, North Hill Elementary, provides kindergarten through grade three. At one time the buildings also housed Highline Preschool. There are about 300 students enrolled at Olympic Elementary in grades 4-6 for the 2003-2004 school year.
